JW Marriott El convento
Domestic and international weddings were a key sales and marketing focus for JW Marriott El Convento Cusco in 2019. In lieu of a traditional media FAM, the five-star hotel—together with Marriott International Caribbean & Latin America—hired MegaWatt Events to organize and produce a hybrid influencer FAM/weddings shoot highlighting the traditional Andean wedding ceremony and unique experiences for elopements, honeymoons, and couples' getaways in Peru.
MegaWatt Events, in partnership with the Brandman Agency, organized and planned a FAM targeting bridal bloggers, social influencers, and top-tier event professionals. To execute an experiential, content-centric trip, MegaWatt Events managed a team of local vendors and sourced bridal gowns, high-end linens, custom menus, and accents from the U.S. to produce event vignettes around the property.
The centerpiece of the trip was a full-scale Andean wedding ceremony, held in the hotel's 16th-century courtyard and proceeded over by local shamans. MegaWatt Events reinterpreted classic elements of Peruvian decor to modernize the aesthetic for the hotel's target U.S. audience.
★ Bridal press on from event design, destination wedding, and
honeymoon perspectives on such sites as Green Wedding Shoes
and Wedding Sparrow (2MM monthly uniques).
★ A high level of exposure on social media from the FAM guests
(dedicated trip hashtag, tagging of the hotel in all images, in-real-
time documentation on Instagram Stories, etc.). The resulting
content yielded more than 15,000 Instagram likes across main
feed posts shared during and after the trip.
★ 200-plus edited images of the event venues, public spaces, and
culinary offerings, all which were made available to the hotel for
marketing and social media.
★ Top-tier industry contacts and new preferred vendors.
"Katie approached the planning and execution of this project like a true wedding professional:
She was proactive, detail-oriented, and dedicated to creating a magical experience. The influencers
and photographers she sourced brought a fresh eye to our captive market, and we couldn't be
more pleased with the unique photographic stock of Andean weddings they generated.
Before and after the trip, Katie communicated clearly, followed up, and was easy to work with. During the trip, she was always prepared—if not one step ahead. Katie has the capacity to turn something common into something extraordinary with what you have on-hand. (And if there's something that you don’t have, she'll find it!) The only acceptable result for her is perfection, yet she remains flexible.
I would absolutely recommend her and look forward to working with her again."
